FAQ: Billing FAQ: Photos FAQ: Land and Farm Bulletin FAQ: Page Counters/Views FAQ: Editing Ads FAQ: Contacting Sellers - to Purchase Property FAQ: Perimeter Mapping Instructions FAQ: Contacting Sellers - Emails FAQ: Mapping a Property FAQ: Bulk Plans FAQ: Quick Start - Sellers FAQ: Quick Start - Buyers FAQ: Banner ads What is the FREE UPGRADE? What are ENHANCED listings? FAQ: Billing How often am I billed? Billing is typically monthly until you downgrade or delete your ad. You can downgrade or delete your ad on the "My Properties" page by clicking on "downgrade" under your listing. What does it cost? You can see our current pricing plans here: http://www.landandfarm.com/pricing How do I change my credit card info? You can change your credit card info by signing-in, clicking on My Properties, and going to "Edit Billing Info" in the left-hand menu, shaded green. You will need to re-enter your entire credit card number, expiration date, and billing address at the same time. Please do not leave any fields blank, or the card will be rejected by our credit card processor. I got a notice that my credit card didn't work, or I received an email that my credit card didn't work. What do I do? When your credit card is declined for any reason, we send you an automatic e-mail saying why it was declined, if the credit card processor passed along that information to us, and that the card connected to your account will be re-billed in three days. Once you receive this email, you should go online and edit your account to either correct wrong or inaccurate card information, or input a different card, entirely. How do I turn my ad off? Login into LandAndFarm.com, and go to "My Properties." Underneath the Ad Summary for each ad that you have placed online is a Downgrade link. Clicking on Downgrade offers two options: Slow Downgrade means that it stays on-air, but at the end of the billing cycle (i.e. One-month from your purchasing the ad), the ad goes off-air permanently, and billings stops. This is useful if you want your full month's worth of advertising, but don't wish to continue advertising after that. At the end of the billing cycle, you will receive an email confirming your downgrade. Fast Downgrade means the ad is taken off-air, but is left in the system, in case you change your mind or wish to put it back on-air. Delete means the ad is deleted from the system, and if you need to put it back on air, you will have to re-create it. Please note, there are no refunds for unused time. Advertising on LandAndFarm.com is paid for in advance, one month at a time, until you downgrade or delete your listing. Will I still be billed after I turn my ad off? You will not be billed again once your ad is turned off. However, you will not receive a refund for any unused time. Example: You purchase a Standard Classified on April 1; on April 20 you decide to stop advertising and you downgrade your ad. You have already been charged for one month's worth of advertising, from April 1. However, you will not be billed again for advertising on May 1, because you opted to Downgrade your ad. Can I save myself some money by turning my ad off early? Not really, no. The reason is that we only sell ads in increments of one-month, and we only accept payment in advance. Do you accept checks? No, we do not accept checks. If you have questions about our payment system, call 1-888-FARM-BUY. FAQ: Photos How do I upload photos? You must first sign-in, using the login you received when you registered on LandAndFarm.com. You will be able to add photos once you place your listing (fill out edit form). Once you have done this, go to "My Properties" and then you can upload photos by clicking on the "photos" link underneath the ad summary. What are the size requirements for photos? Photos must be no larger than 2 megabytes each. If they are larger, you may see a gray area in the uploaded photo. Why are my photos gray? Your photos are gray, or partially gray, because the size of the photo file is too big for our site. LandAndFarm.com allows you to upload photos of 2 megabytes or less. If you photos are grayed-out, use the photo-resizing tool to shrink them, and try to upload them again. We offer a small mini-application - a 'Pics Resizer' - that you can install and use to manipulate your photos so that our system accepts them. Another possibility that would make the file size too big is that the dimensions (height and width) of the picture are too big. If you can check this, try to make sure the width of the picture is no more than 500 pixels. Many times, reducing the absolute dimensions of the picture will reduce the file size of the picture considerably. How many photos can I upload? That depends on what type of listing you have, since Standard listings and Premium listings have different amounts. For Standard listings, you can upload as many as 16 photos. For Premium listings, you can upload as many as 50 photos. You do not have to upload them all at once, and you can replace the photos you have uploaded with new photos at any time. I don't like the photo that site visitors see when my property comes up in a search. What can I do about this? You can login, and go to "My Properties." Under the Ad Summary is a link. Click on this, and you will see your property photos on the left, and the tools to manipulate the photos on the right. Next to each photo you should see a choice, "Click to make this the search thumbnail photo." Click on this link and the photo next to it will be the representative photo for the ad on all search results, and for browsing on your country/state/province page and for land use pages you selected. Can I send you photos by email? Yes, you can send photos to your listing by email. Navigate to the photo upload page (My Properties -> Photos -> Add a photo), then click on the email link to open a new email on your computer. The subject and address of the email will be automatically filled in. Then, attach your photos to the email and send it. Do not attach more than 5 megabytes of photos to a single email (2 megabytes is best). Once your email has been sent from your computer, our system will need to process them. To process them, navigate to the photo page (My Properties -> Photos). Click on the link "check for emailed photos." The system will automatically add any photos it receives. Your photos are added to your listing in an "OFF" position, meaning they are not visible. We do this to prevent unknown individuals from adding visible photos to our site. You can now turn on each photo you wish to be visible, or you can turn on all photos using the link at the top. FAQ: Land and Farm Bulletin What is the difference between LandAndFarm.com and Land and Farm Bulletin? Land and Farm Bulletin, 25-years old in summer 2005, has a loyal following of readers and advertisers around the world; it pre-dates the Internet by 15 years, and sometimes contains news and information, of which we usually do not run the complete contents online. It's a different audience with a different lifestyle. Land and Farm Bulletin is also portable and persistent, i.e. a copy hangs around for a while, and many people pass them around or mail them to friends or family, which we encourage. LandAndFarm.com is the number-one-rated rural property website in the world, based on search results and average number of visits. We are constantly working to update our stats. Look on the homepage for more information about statistics. Do I have to buy an ad on both of them? An ad purchased on either LandAndFarm.com or Land and Farm Bulletin automatically becomes an ad on both platforms - at the cost of one ad, not two. So, if you purchase an ad through Land and Farm Bulletin, you are also purchasing an ad on LandAndFarm.com, and vice-versa. The format is slightly different for both, of course. Right now, we only offer photos online for advertisers unless you are buying a display ad in Land and Farm Bulletin - those can have photos. Premium listings also display photos. Does my ad appear in both online and print? Yes, it does, automatically and at no charge. Under our system, you pay for an online ad and get the print ad for free. They are not identical. A standard ad online will allow for more copy and information, plus photos. The print version of that same ad will be shorter and will not contain photos - at least, not at this time. Do I have to pay extra to get Land and Farm Bulletin? No. If your ad is live on the day we mail out Land and Farm Bulletin to subscribers typically during the last 10 days of the month preceding the issue date always the first of every month then you will get a free copy of Land and Farm Bulletin. Once you no longer have an active or live ad on LandAndFarm.com/Land and Farm Bulletin, then you no longer get a free copy; at that point, you would need to subscribe or purchase it on a newsstand. Can I get Land and Farm Bulletin in Canada? Yes, you can. Prices are $50 USD for a one-year first class subscription. How do subscribe to Land and Farm Bulletin? FAQ: Perimeter Mapping Instructions Instructions to draw a map of your propertyWhen you first open the perimeter (border) mapping page, you may see a red flag in the center of the map. The red flag approximates the location of your property using latitude and longitude. This is used for map searching, but it is not related to perimeter mapping. The flag will disappear when you start drawing your border map. You can edit this point by clicking on "edit lat/lon". The location of this flag will not affect your perimeter map.
FAQ: Contacting Sellers - Emails I e-mailed the seller but but he didn't respond, what can I do? We're not sure why the seller didn't respond to your e-mail. Sellers who pay for ads should respond to inquiries, but we cannot, unfortunately, compel a seller to respond. Some sellers list other contact channels: phone, fax or postal address. You may try one or all of these to elicit a response. I received spam. What do I do? You can send it to us at customer-service@landandfarm.com. We block known spammers from our service. However, you may sometimes get an inquiry from someone who is simply attempting to elicit a reply to obtain your email. You do not have to respond to an inquiry, so examine inquiries carefully to judge whether they are legitimate - send them to us if you are not sure. We also try to alert you if spammers get through: we mark emails that we suspect are spam. If you think you have been sent spam, please forward it to us so that we may take appropriate action. Can visitors see my email address? No, they cannot see a seller's email address. We hide advertiser e-mail addresses by the use of an online form, so that you are protected from automated programs that collect email addressed and spam your email address with unwanted mail and potentially dangerous attachments. You can see emails sent to you by clicking on the appropriate link under your advertisement on the MyProperties page. FAQ: Mapping a Property Where's the mapping feature? FAQ: Quick Start - Sellers How Do I Start Advertising on LandAndFarm.com? First, Register on LandAndFarm.com. This is free, but we require you to register before you purchase advertising. Second, once you have registered, go to your e-mail and collect your login and password. Use these to sign-in to LandAndFarm.com, by clicking on the "Login" link in the toolbar of our homepage. Within the menu is a link: "Place a Classified Ad - ADD PROPERTY." Click on this link. Then, follow the prompts. Remember, you will create your online ad first, and then below that, on the same 'edit' page, the system will ask you to create (or approve an automatic ad via the link "Suggest Text") your print ad for our monthly magazine, Land and Farm Bulletin; print is included in the online ad price. FAQ: Quick Start - Buyers LandAndFarm.com offers a number of ways to find your target property...or just to see what's out there, or on the market. First, Take a look at the left-hand menu on the homepage, below the green-shaded portion. You will see categories for property, organized by Type of Land Use, Price Range, Acreage and Country and State or Province. You can click on any of these links to browse a particular category or sub-category. Next to each division is a number, which represents the number of ads in that category now on the site. Because we allow property advertisers to check up to three land-uses, per property ad, some overlap is expected. Second, you may search for your target property by clicking on the "Search Properties" link in the toolbar of the homepage, in the upper-left hand corner of that page. The search page allows you to narrow your search using a range of parameters, including location, type of property and many other other elements. Once you have found a property you're interested in, click on the blue, hyper-linked headline for that property ad. Doing this will bring up the full ad page; at the bottom of the page is seller contact information, i.e. address, phone number, as well as an email form that is tied to the email the seller used when registering with LandandFarm.com, and placing and purchasing their property ad. You can contact a seller however you choose.
